A MAN from Ashbourne is in training for a boxing match in aid of charity.

Ben Prince has agreed to enter the event, held at the Ipro stadium in Derby on Sunday, May 4, to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

His fitness regime involves eight weeks of training, and it is a sport Mr Prince has never been involved with before.

He explained what motivated him to take part: “I’ve never done any boxing, but when I was asked to get involved I just decided to go for it.

“Cancer Research is a charity close to my heart, so I would be grateful for any donations to help me fund-raise for them.

“There are about 40 men and 10 ladies involved, and it should he an exciting night with amateur fighters, consisting of three two-minute rounds, professionally refereed and with ring-girls.

“Tickets are £20, and can be bought from me.

“Anyone wanting to support me can visit my page at www.justgiving.com/ben-prince1, or text 70070 with the message BENP86 and the amount they want to donate.”
