RAIDERS have broken into an Ashbourne pub, broken into fruit machines and stolen cash from charity boxes that were on the bar.
Burglars targeted The Wheel, in Compton Street, sometime between 1am and 5am this morning.
They forced their way in through a back door before ransacking the building and stealing the money, pouches of tobacco and the cash register.
The landlord of the pub, Steve Bull a former Mayor of Ashbourne and current county and district councillor.
He said: "It is disappointing that someone has done this but we will not be beat and will be open today as normal."
