AN evening of live music and dancing is being organised to raise funds for a group of volunteer lifesavers.

Derbyshire band, Woodstone, will be playing popular hits from the past, including tracks from Dire Straits, the Rolling Stones and Queen. The event, in aid of Mayfield and Ellastone Community First Responders, will take place on Friday, October 10 at the Empire Ballroom in Ashbourne. Doors open at 7.30pm.

Lesley Bentley, who plays bass in the band, said: "I have been a first responder for nearly two years now, and know how vital these kind of events are.

"The group is made up entirely of volunteers and we get no funding, so rely heavily on donations."
