A PHOTOGRAPHER from Ashbourne has been out in the south of England capturing dramatic images of the day's storms.

Rod Kirkpatrick, who runs FStopPress from his home in Belper road, set off yesterday to greet the storm that was predicted to hit the south west in the early hours of this morning.

Mr Kirkpatrick stopped over in Ilfracombe, Devon, and headed out early to capture these images of the storm surge and flooding caused by heavy rain and high winds.

Across the country forecasters issued severe weather warnings and told people to stay away from the coastal areas for their own safety.
