THE Ashbourne Singers have returned from a trip to France to Soisy-Sur-Seine, a town linked to Ashbourne through a friendship agreement.

The group was invited to take part in Soisy's annual Fete de Musique in a picturesque pink chateau.

Members were each hosted by families from the town and the concert followed a reception.

On Saturday, the Ashbourne Singers, led by Linda Perry Smith and accompanied by Steven Duckworth, performed their own set of music from their recent programme, Sing the Hits.

Ms Perry Smith said: "Our singers were blown away by the warmth and hospitality of our French friends in Soisy.

"They are indeed very excited to have made this friendship and are keen to meet other clubs and societies from Ashbourne who would like to make their acquaintance and organise further trips, events, pen pals and exchanges."
