THE mild winter has led to snowdrops springing up early, according to News Telegraph readers.
Pictures have been sent in of the January blooms bursting into life in gardens across the town and surrounding villages as soil temperatures rise amid a whirlwind of unsettled and stormy weather in the last few weeks.
However the area’s most popular display of snowdrops, at Hopton Hall near Carsington, is yet to see flowers emerge.
Staff say the carpet of snowdrops that attracts hundreds of visitors each year is showing no signs of an early arrival and the annual attraction is ‘very much on track’ for putting on a show in a few weeks time.
Snowdrops at Hopton Hall will be open every day from Saturday, February 1 until Sunday, March 2.
