ASHBOURNE Aztec Leopards under-10s made it 17 goals without reply in their last two games after following up last week’s 7-0 win by smashing Roe Farm Whites 10-0.
They started this match in the same fashion as the previous one, putting Roe Farm under constant pressure from the outset.
Aztecs were getting lots of attempts on goal but Roe Farm’s goalkeeper pushed them away for corners.
One flag-kick, taken by Calum Wood, was brilliantly headed in by Ben Pattinson for the first goal, quickly followed by a second as a run down the right flank by Wood saw him score with a cross-shot.
Even with the Leopards attacking at will, lone defender Will Birkett was secure at the back and intelligently passed the ball from defence to the midfield.
Aaron Kingaby in goal also remained focused even though he did not have too much to do.
The midfield duo of Owen Bailey and Ben Pattinson were winning everything in the middle and supporting the front three.
Leo Cooper was next to score with a precise finish from inside the box.
Tommy Cokayne came on as sweeper to replace Will Birkett and got straight into the action with his strong tackling.
With half-time approaching, Wood got his second goal with another long range shot.
The Leopards continued in the same ruthless way in the second half.
Birkett came back on for the hard working Leo Cooper and immediately scored with a long-range shot that nut-megged the goalkeeper.
Wood then completed his hat trick with a fine finish that beat the keeper at his near post.
The seventh goal was the move of match as the ball was played out of defence to Wood on the right and he quickly switched it to Birkett on the left, who hit a first-time pass to Taylor Platt in the box, and he waited for the keeper to commit himself before lifting the ball over him to score.
The eighth goal was scored by Birkett with a chip over the keeper’s head before Platt scored his second goal.
The final goal of the game came from Cooper with a fine side foot pass into the bottom corner to cap a fantastic display from all eight players.
