ASHBOURNE Aztecs Under-13s edged through in the cup by beating higher-ranked West Hallam Warriors in extra time thanks to a Keane Bond hat-trick.
They opened the scoring when the ball fell to Alex Moss wide on the right and played it into the path of Bond, who made no mistake, slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
West Hallam began the second half on the front foot and put the Aztecs defence under pressure, and they were finally beaten as the impressive visiting centre forward rode three tackles to score.
Aztecs broke forward again and a shot from Bond found a way past the keeper and into the net.
West Hallam dug in and equalised again as the ball fell to the scorer of the first goal, who beat Matt Bacon to the ball and lobbed it into the far corner.
Neither team could find a winner in normal time so the game went into extra time, the first-half of which remained goalless.
Finally, with extra time running out, Bond broke through the defence to put the ball past the out rushing keeper.
