TWO local golfers have pulled off an incredible achievement at Ashbourne Golf Club as they both made hole-in-ones – not only on the same day, but on the same hole.
Each Monday morning, the senior men’s team contest a nine-hole Stableford competition, with 40 members taking part last week.
John Taylor, winner of the 2012 Order of Merit, scored a hole in one on the par three ninth hole, the second most difficult on the course.
Less than an hour later, Jim Sellars then aced the same hole.
Here on the Ashbourne News Telegraph Sports Desk, we make that a 1 in 3,500,000 chance!
Sellars’ sinker helped him to claim victory with 23 points, while Taylor came third overall with 20 points.
Alan Mudie was sandwiched inbetween in second place with 21 points.
