POLICE say a man in his mid-50s had to be airlifted to hospital after suffering a “serious hand injury” in a workshop.

A force spokesman said the victim was in his shed at the bottom of his garden when he suffered the injury, the exact details of which are not known.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to the address, in Ashbourne Road, Sudbury, at 4.30pm yesterday.

He was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital where he was kept in overnight.

The spokesman said: “No further details about how the man came about his injuries are known at this time but there are no suspicious circumstances.”
