AN ASHBOURNE church is calling for donations of non perishable food items to help those in need this Christmas.

Ashbourne Foodbank, managed by the Elim Pentecostal church, in Waterside Business Park, operates in and around the town and aims to provide families or individuals in crisis with emergency food parcels.

The parcels normally contain one to three day’s worth of supplies, depending on the recipient’s circumstances and are donated to those in greatest needs.

This year food parcels have been given to families waiting to receive benefits, individuals who have lost their job and families where a partner has walked away taking their income with them.

Additionally the church has helped families struggling to buy food because of increases in household bills, and anyone who is showing signs of malnutrition due to a lack of healthy food.

If you can help with a donation to the Ashbourne Foodbank more information is available by calling the church on 01335 344338 or online at www.elimchurchashbourne.co.uk
