THE 29th Ashbourne Highland Gathering took place at the town’s recreation ground, attracting in excess of 8,000 people.
It included everything from dancing sheep to caber tossing and is organised by a team of six people.
Secretary Warwick Adams said: “It’s really good to see it all come together on the recreation ground on the day.
“We were only a very small team this year but we had tremendous support from the community, and we simply couldn’t do it without them.
Major attractions included the drum-major’s challenge, the sheep show and celebrity strong-man Geoff Capes and his team of competitors in the Highland games.
The All-England Amateur Solo Piping Championship was also a major feature of the event.
