AFTER seemingly endless negotiations over money and potential swap deals, it seems that television could be the factor that pushes the Gareth Bale to Real Madrid deal to a speedier resolution.

The Tottenham Hotspur winger is on the verge of completing a £94 million deal to join the Galacticos, and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy discussed the deal last night with the Spanish club, who want the Welshman to make his home debut on Sunday, September 1 against Athletic Bilbao, because the midday kick-off would maximise the global television audience watching his first game in Spain.

The Daily Mirror report that Chelsea have been told they have hope of signing Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney if the Premier League champions can find a replacement for the England international.

French champions Paris St-Germain could outbid Arsenal for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye, leading the Gunners to go for a more cut-price deal and bring back Mathieu Flamini, who has been training with the club for the past fortnight since his contract expired at AC Milan.

Manchester City have been told they will have to spend £4.26m if they want to sign Atletico Madrid defender Martin Demichelis, say the Guardian.
