TOTAL toe-tussling "toemination" is set to stamp its way into the limelight at one of the quirkiest world championships in the country.
The 38th World Toe Wrestling Championships will see the polished athletes shake off their socks and lock toes, trying to force their opponent's digit to the ground.
Reigning Men's World Champion Alan "Nasty" Nash is set to make a return to the toedium, at the Bentley Brook Inn in Fenny Bentley tomorrow, to defend his title.
Meanwhile former Ladies World Champions Lisa "Twinkle Toes" Shenton and "Rebecca Camille Toe" Beech are tipped to be facing off in the closing stages of the event, which starts at around 1pm.
The event was originally devised by Staffordshire landlord George Burgess in 1976 in an attempt to find a new sport for British people to dominate.
This year the bouts will be compered by Ed Allingham, who runs the Leatherbritches Brewery which was founded at the pub.
Competitors are invited to register to take part from noon on the day of the championships - but must pass a rigorous toe inspection before they can step up to the "toedium".
