IT was a frustrating weekend for Ashbourne driver Sam Randon in the latest rounds of the Michelin Clio Cup series at Brands Hatch.
An opening corner incident in the first race left him with a damaged car and he spent most of the race in a door-hand-to-door-handle battle with rivals Brett Smith and Andy Jordan before finishing eighth.
Randon was out of luck in the second race, when he failed to finish.
He is still fifth in the overall standings for the series with two meetings – and four races – to come.
His new SVR Racing team-mate, 16-year-old Adam Hatfield, was last in the first race but came a very good seventh in the second.
