DARLEY Moor was the venue for the penultimate round in the national Women's Team Series of bike races.

The race was won convincingly won by Lauryn Trenin of the Bonito Squadra Corse after an attack with five laps to go.

Sarah Byrne (Newcastle Tri Club) had joined Trenin in the break and was beaten in the final sprint.

The pace of the race was rapid right from the first lap and it was never a dull race.

A few breaks had been hauled back prior to Trenin's decisive move and she and Byrne pulled 22 seconds clear going into the final lap.

Too late, the bunch tried to respond and had the gaps down to 15 seconds by the final corner.

They were closing all the time but had not left themselves enough time.

Trenin's team remain clear in the overall standings.
