Wreck It RalphCINEMATIC hits are to be shown on the big screen in Ashbourne.
The Empire Cinema Group will screen the award-winning Lincoln (12A), starring Daniel Day Lewis, on Friday, March 22 at 7.30pm.
The flm tells of President Lincoln’s titanic efforts to take a passage for the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution in the House of Representatives which would finally end slavery in the country. Starring Daniel Day-Lewis as President Abraham Lincoln, Sally Field as his wife and Tommy Lee Jones as radical Republican Thaddeus Stevens this is a powerful story of bitter rivalries and political ambition which ended in Lincoln’s death when he is shot as he is in the audience at the theatre.
The showing will be followed on Saturday, March 23, by family film Wreck It Ralph (PG) at 11am.
A video game villain wants to be a hero and sets out to fulfill his dream but his quest brings havoc to the games arcade. Wreck It Ralph wants to be as loved as his game’s perfect Good Guy, Fix It Felix. The problem is that no-one loves a bad guy, but they do love heroes, so when a new game arrives featuring tough as nails Sergeant Calhoun, Ralph sees it as an opportunity to become a hero.
Both showings are at the Empire Club, Ashbourne.
