
NEW choir groups for young people is to be launched in the Derbyshire Dales.
Young Voices Unite is a project for children between the ages of eight and 18 and has been founded by DaleDiva sirector Ally Law and choir member Leisha Martin.
The project will include two choral groups and aims to boost self esteem, provide opportunities to perform and encourage expression.
The choirs will perform songs from the likes of Snow Patrol, Take That, Adele and Coldplay.
Free taster sessiosn for Young Voices Unite are at Theatreworks at Via Gelia Mills on Sunday, March 10.
The first session is from 10am until noon for children aged eight to 12 with an afternoon session for teenagers aged 13 to 18 running from 1pm until 3pm.
Mrs Martin said: “I have been lucky enough to have sung not only in choirs but as a soloist, in a quartet and with larger ensembles. Each of these experiences has taught me that singing brings people together in a positive way and spreads joy.
“It is important to me that young people are given the opportunity to pursue their dreams, express themselves and to develop and showcase their talents. I hope that Young Voices Unite will provide young people with a sense of self belief and allow them to shine.”
