A SEVEN-year-old Doveridge boy has had an electric Land Rover and trailer stolen from his home just four weeks before Christmas.

Arron Lowe lives with his parents in High Street, Doveridge. His electric Land Rover and trailer were parked outside his home on Sunday night when thieves took the vehicle.

Arron, who is a pupil at Doveridge Primary School, received the electric vehicle as a combined Christmas and birthday present last year after his dad, Kevin, had spent six months restoring the Land Rover.

Mr Lowe has reported the theft to police and is now offering a £50 reward for the return of the vehicle.

He said: “It was left outside on charge after we were using it to collect firewood all day.

“I went out at 6am Monday morning and it had gone.

“Arron had it for his Christmas and birthday and everything else present. I spent six months restoring it for him, there was so much work put into it.

“They must have been prepared. It is four feet long and it takes two people to lift it because of the engine and the batteries in it.

“They must have had a decent sized trailer or a big van. If anyone has seen anything I would just ask them to inform the police. Really, we just want it back.

“I’ve offered a £50 reward for it’s return because that’s all I can afford.” Mr Lowe can be contacted at klowe13@yahoo.co.uk.

Derbyshire Police are investigating the theft and have appealed for witnesses to contact PCSO Lucy Blackwell with the crime reference number Cr 50986/12, on 101.

Mr Lowe added: “I was planning on making him a bigger trailer to go behind it, but all we’ve got left now is the ignition key.

“At this moment in time I can’t say what I think about the people who’ve done this. Arron knows but I don’t think it’s hit home yet.”
