MEMBERS of a woodcraft club that meets in a village near Ashbourne have been presented with trophies after winning competitions throughout the year.

Derbyshire Dales Woodcraft Club, which meets in Wyaston village hall on the first Saturday of each month, met to present the members competition trophy and the masters competition trophy at their first get-together of the year.

Chairman Dick Potter presented with John McConnell with the masters trophy and John Henbery with the members class trophy.

He said: “We have about 30 members of varying levels of skills, from complete beginner to expert, in woodturning, woodcarving, marquetry and pyrography.

“Our programme is a mixture of hands-on sessions when you can receive tuition in the use of a lathe etc and demonstrations by a visiting professional turner/carver, plus a monthly competition.”

The February meeting will involve a tool-sharpening workshop. To find out more visit www.ddwc.co.uk, email info@ddwc.co.uk or call 01335 344933.
