ASHBOURNE Ladies completely overwhelmed opponents Woodland on their visit to Derby to claim a fourth straight victory and drive their way to the top spot in the league.
Starting with three players up front, the ladies set about Woodlands from the first whistle, bagging four goals in the first half which, with a bit more composure in front of goal, could have been eight by half-time.
Credit must go to the girls for playing the ball on the floor and great creativity through the midfield to the pacey forwards.
Two goals from Lisa Shenton (2), and singles from Sam Glanville and Laura Sears made it 4-0 at half-time.
It was more of the same in the second half, as Claire Poyser and Laura Sears’ pace was devastating, and more goals followed from exactly the same fluid counter-attacking style.
Shenton completed her hat-trick, while Sears hit a second-half treble to make it four for the game, while Glanville completed a brace and Greta Paskiewicz netted two as a substitute, including one straight off the bench.
Credit also to the excellent defending of the midfield and back, despite Woodlands scoring a consolation goal and they should be applauded for their resilience because the score of 11-1 could have been worse with Ashbourne hitting the crossbar twice.
ASHBOURNE: Swift, Coles, Wager, Allsop, Fearn, Wood, Dale, Shenton, Sears, Galnville, Poyser, Paskiewicz, Kenny.
