PROLIFIC author and internet celebrity John Green has highlighted the ancient sport of toe wrestling, which takes place each year in Fenny Bentley.

The US author of The Fault In Our Stars, which recently became a film, lists toe-wrestling in his 27 Unbelievable Local Traditions on Youtube as part of a weekly trivia spot.

Also included in the traditions are the monkey buffet festival in Thailand, bull-running in Pamplona, Spain, and the tomato festival – La Tomatina – also in Spain.

Vlogbrothers is a popular Youtube series Mr Green has with his brother, Hank. He also has 2.88 million followers on Twitter.

In 2004, after outgrowing the venue, the World Toe Wrestling contest moved to the Bentley Brook Inn.
