WOOTTON WI have had a very busy August, with an invitation to a "Spam and Jam" afternoon at Norbury WI being very enjoyable.
Everyone, dressed in colourful summer dresses and hats, sat down to an afternoon tea of sandwiches, cakes, blancmange and trifles.
A quiz of the 1950s and a raffle ticket were given to each person and the prizes were appropriate to the 50s era.
In the evening, we had an invitation from Denstone WI to a games evening where we played golf, skittles and darts and had another meal.
Thanks to both WIs for a very enjoyable day.
Our own WI meeting on August 12 was a trip to the National Arboretum at Alrewas, where we went round on a little train with a commentary that told us about each monument.
After lunch, we had a look at the remembrance tree and had a trip to the chapel to admire the carvings.
The next meeting of Wootton WI will be on September 9 at the Reading Room, Wootton, at 7.30pm when the speaker will be Dorothy Adams on "Warli Tribal Art" and the competition is a wooden ornament.
