AN ASHBOURNE church is hosting its first Christmas tree festival.

Organised by the flower arrangers at St Oswald’s church, the event is featuring three six-foot trees and 15 four-foot trees, all themed, illuminated and donated by church groups, local service organisations and businesses.

All of the trees have been bought through the charity tree scheme held annually by the Rotary Club of Ashbourne and district.

Admission is free but donations are invited for general church funds.

The event runs until Monday, January 6 and refreshments will be available on Saturday December 14 and 21.

Displays have been created by church groups including Edward Bear infants and pre-school group, the choir, bell ringers, the Mothers’ Union and the Monday Luncheon Club.

Other trees have been decorated by town businesses including St Oswald’s infants school, QEGS, Ashbourne flower club, The Inner Wheel Club of Ashbourne, Ashbourne Guides and Scouts, Ashbourne Sports and Physiotherapy clinic, Kay’s hair salon and Financescape.
