A FASHION designer who has worked with M&S and Asda is settling in to a new shop, selling painted furniture and interiors.

Single mother Louise Housely, 43, from Brassington, is balancing her new business, Martha’s Attic, with her part-time job as a merchandiser and web designer - but she still finds time to keep her shop fully stocked.

She has moved into one of the newly-created units at Denstone Farm Shop to display and sell her restored and hand-painted furniture, a spin-off business that developed from her soft furnishing company, Housley and Co.

Selling online and at fairs, her soft furnishings were displayed on ‘upcycled’ furniture and, when customers started asking to buy the display furniture as much as the soft furnishings, she spotted a new business opportunity.

Martha’s Attic, which has provided a new platform for her bespoke painted furniture, is now open from Wednesday until Sunday at the farm shop, which recently expanded to make room for other small businesses.
