AN image has been released of what could become Ashbourne Leisure Centre’s new ‘changing village’.
Derbyshire Dales District Council’s plans to plough a £175,000 Sport England grant into the building’s first major upgrade for more than 20 years, along with thousands of pounds of its own funds on upgrades.
Work is due to begin next month on the changing rooms for the swimming pool and is due to be completed by the end of may.
Improvements have also been approved to the the energy efficiency of the building, which was opened in 2003.
Council bosses plan to fit new domestic hot and cold water services and a new heating system.
The pool is due to remain open throughout the project, but with some ‘necessary disruption’ to changing facilities.
