Property developments in the town are part of the story of the market’s growth, says boss of a big housing firm

THE boss of a housing construction firm says some of the town’s forthcoming building developments reflect a bouyant property market.

Miller Homes Midlands, which is putting the finishing touches to a plan for 37 homes off Lodge Farm Chase and has recently put in plans for other large developments in and around the town, says its Ashbourne developments are part of a wider growth across its portfolio in the East Midlands.

Paul Walters, associate director, said: “There is no doubt that we find ourselves in a stronger position than we did 12 months ago.

“The Government-backed Help to Buy scheme has certainly been pivotal and has really given people the confidence to move. It has been the boost that the property market needed.

“Our performance was also bolstered by having greater availability, with a host of new developments launching last year. The sales rate shows that we made the right acquisitions and that the old adage of ‘location, location, location’ is still of utmost importance.

“It’s great to be able to start the New Year by announcing a host of forthcoming sites and we also have several other opportunities in the pipeline too.”
