A FORMER Abbotsholme pupil is heading back to his old school to give pupils and parents a talk on his best-selling book.
Simon Pearson, who is the obituaries and letters editor of the Times newspaper, will address the Abbotsholme audience about his book, The Great Escaper: the Life and Death of Roger Bushell, on Thursday, February 27.
This year sees the 70th anniversary of the escape in March.
The book follows the life of ‘Big X’, the officer in charge of the escape from Stalag Luft III in 1994, who was immortalised on film by Richard Attenborough in The Great Escape.
Mr Pearson has been speaking at major literary festivals, on Radio 4’s Today programme and on the Richard Bacon show on Radio 5.
Having also spoken on radio in Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, Mr Pearson will visit the school as part of a series of lectures to celebrate the school’s 125-year anniversary.
Mr Pearson will be available at the end of the lecture to sign copies of his book, which will also be available for purchase.
All are welcome and tickets, costing £10, can be bought by calling 01889 594289 or emailing Hannah.email@example.com
