RECYCLING bosses are encouraging people to hold ‘give and take’ days to boost recycling in and around Ashbourne.

People living in Ashbourne can arrange the session in the area and invite people to bring along their unwanted items; including DVDs, furniture, books and clothes.

Derbyshire County Council, which is promoting the Give and Take day scheme, has produced a toolkit for anyone wanting to arrange their own day.

The county council’s cabinet member for recycling and technology, Councillor John Allsop said: “We all have unwanted items at home that are no longer in use.

Holding little events like these will help bring communities together and will also help to make big impact in reducing the amount of items sent to landfill.”

The tool kit includes tips on running a successful event, publicity materials and advice about donations and recruiting volunteers.
